Civil asset forfeiture ~Exploring the possibilities for an EU model
The symposium was hosted by the Max Planck Institute for Foreign and International Criminal Law and the Faculty of Law of the University of Tromsø in Sommarøy, Norway.
Experts from different EU countries shared their views around the table. One of 11 SB's civil fraud specialists and POCA founding committee member Ian Smith was invited to discuss "Civil asset recovery: the English experience". Debate around the ideas of the possibility of a EU model was extremely relevant to the Max Planck Institute which is renowned for its research in the area of criminal law as well criminology and is also known for being a think tank in these areas of law, continuously exploring new avenues.
