Tom has a strong commercial / chancery practice with particular emphasis on insolvency, commercial and pensions-related litigation. He has appeared as an advocate in courts and professional tribunals up to and including the Court of Appeal. He has particular experience of large scale litigation and advisory work relating to commercial disputes, occupational pension schemes, insolvency and regulatory action as follows:
- Contractual disputes
- Corporate and personal insolvency
- Information technology
- Moral hazard powers under the Pensions Act 2004
- Misfeasance
- Section 994 petitions
Most recently, he has been instructed by the Pensions Regulator in several complex multi-jurisdictional commercial cases raising issues of commercial and insolvency law; most notably in the Nortel/Lehman litigation, currently on appeal to the Supreme Court.
Tom's six month placement with a firm in Guernsey earlier in his career has given him first-hand experience of off-shore litigation as well as experience working directly with a wide range of clients to achieve practical and commercial resolutions of disputes.
