Profile

Before coming to the Bar Max Mallin spent a number of years working in international investment banking, both on Wall Street and in the City. He worked in international capital markets first as a trader and ultimately as head of international bond trading. This experience gives him significant expertise in financial markets litigation and cases in this area have included disputes in commodity and foreign exchange markets; claims for negligent advice in relation to financial investments and (particularly recently) cases concerning spread-betting in financial instruments.

Max's practice covers all aspects of general commercial and company-related litigation with a particular focus on:

  • Contract disputes
  • Commercial fraud (including claims by liquidators)
  • Financial markets disputes
  • Partnership disputes
  • Conflicts of laws and jurisdictional issues
  • Shareholder disputes (including minority shareholder petitions)
  • Claims against directors (including such claims by liquidators)
  • Arbitration claims
  • Professional negligence
